An Italian worker who is posted to Argentina to provide technical services on short-term assignments is required to obtain a visa for entering the country, considering that such activities do not fall under the categories of tourism or business.

According to the Local Law, for performing technical activities (set up/ supervision/repair of machinery) in Argentina, the Italian worker needs to apply for a specific visa, which will enable him to work legally in the country.

Foreign workers can apply for the visa directly when they arrive in Argentina: as soon as they arrive to the local airport, they need to switch their visa criteria from tourism/business to worker.

The necessary requirement to switch the worker’s status is the sponsorship of the local company, that needs to be registered and duly updated in The National Corporate Registry Office.
