PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Bus
This is the easiest way for getting around Modena and reaching the city centre without the problem of the car parking.
Bus tickets are available in each newsstand or tobacconist’s shops as well as on the bus. So you can buy the ticket before getting on the bus and punch it when you are on the bus or buy it directly on the bus. Each ticket is € 1,00 and you can use it for 60 minutes after you first punch it or you bought it on the bus.
If you are a regular user of public transportation, you can request a season ticket.
Buses are running roughly from 06.00 to 20.30. On Saturdays, Sundays, and public holydays the service is reduced.
You can find the timetable of the buses at each bus stop.
As buses do not stop at every bus stop, remember that when the bus is coming, it is better to give a signal to the driver that you want him to stop and get on, waving your hand. Also when you are on the bus, every stop is on request.
For season tickets and any information: Stazione Autocorriere, Via Bacchini - Modena www.atcm.mo.it/indexEn.asp
Train
Tickets are available at the ticket offices placed in the Train Station (Modena, Piazza Dante). Remember that you have to buy the ticket and punch it before getting on the train.
For ticket booking, timetables and information: Trenitalia Informa tel. 892 021 or www.trenitalia.it (available in English).
Taxi
It is a comfortable way for travelling but certainly it is not cheap.
You are not likely to be able to stop a taxi in the street, so you have to go directly to a taxi parking area, where available taxis stop:
Corso Duomo, 1 (Tel 059 223 325)
Policlinico, Via del Pozzo, 71 (Tel 059 361 337)
Autocorriere, Via Bacchini, 27 (Tel 059 225 090)
Ferrovie dello Stato, Via Dante, 9 (Tel 059 223 242)
Or call RADIO TAXI (059 374 242) and the taxi will come and pick you up wherever you need to.
