Though Modena is a small town, You will be surprised by the wide choice of entertainment activities You will be offered.
In Fall/Winter the offer is particularly rich thanks to the theatre season:
-concerts, opera and ballets at the Teatro Comunale which is since a couple of years in the name of Luciano Pavarotti, the worldwide famous tenor who was born in Modena
- comedies and drama at the Teatro Storchi
-contemporary drama and ballet at the Teatro delle Passioni
At the local City Hall Info Point (Piazza Grande) You will receive for free a copy of the monthly Modena news magazine which will be showing all the cultural events planned in town, so far issued in Italian, only, in the near future available an English version, too.
During the summer season, Modena’s streets, squares and parks will be the locations for open air cultural events.
The Philosophy Festival ,which takes place in town every year in September ,deserves a special highlight: it is an european wide event, every year dedicated to a different issue.
The 2009 edition will be taking place September 18th through 20th and the subject will be “the community”, more than 200 cultural events are scheduled, open air magisterial lectures, exhibitions, concerts, “philosophical dinner parties”, etc.
