HOLDERS OF NON-EU LICENSES
If you are a holder of a driving licence or of an international permit issued in a non EU country you may drive in Italy all the vehicles for those your licence/permit is valid for up to 12 months from the time you became resident. After that period if you want to drive in Italy you have to take the driving test.
If your driving licence or the permit are not issued on the basis of the models foreseen by international convention accepted also by Italy, you have to enclose an official translation in Italian or an equivalent documenti.
If you are from one of the countries listed below (please check for a constant update) and you get the Italian residence you can also obtain the Italian driving licence just by giving your original licence without having any driving test. With the Italian licence you can drive the same vehicles you have driven into your country. Before the driving licence is going to be issue the person must anyway be submitted to a medical examination.
